Hurricane shutters are something you want to work when you need them, and the best way to assure that is to have them serviced by a licensed, competent technician. Here are some common questions we hear.......

I have different kinds of shutters on my home; what kind do you repair?

Answer: We repair all brands and types of shutters. roll ups and roll shades like Wrol-ups,(electric or manual)), accordians, bahamas, colonials (regular and the old crank style), panels and have many parts in stock on our trucks, including motors.

What do my shutters need, and what do you do when you come out to service them?

Answer: Different shutter types need attention in different ways, but essentially all moving parts; rollers, locks, screws, and knuckle joints are all potential problem areas. When we first come to service your protection products, we lubricate all those moving parts and close your shutters to make sure they fit (extra chrge to test mount hurricane panels) and lock. Any problem areas are brought to your attention and a repair quote is given prior to any work being performed. Railing repair quotes are no different.

Why is using a licensed and insured contractor so important?

Answer: Using a licensed contractor assures a level of competence and accountability. Our techs have years of experience in the shutter field and we are a state licensed specialty contractor.  Insurance protects you from liability due to accident or injury by/of a worker on your property. Many homeowners are not aware that if a non-insured worker falls off of that ladder while working on your second story shutters you can be liable for the costs of his injuries. General and product liability insurance as well as workers compensation (not workers comp exemptions) are a must for any contractor to carry.

My shutters are still under warranty. How does service affect my warranty?

Answer: Most manufacturer warranties have clauses that contain service requirements that are the responsibilty of the homeowner to perform or the warranty can be voided. Many homeowners never read the "fine print" contained in these documents. Having your products serviced at least annually (more frequently nearer to the ocean) should keep your warranty in force; check with your manufacturer. The bottom line is that you want them to work when you need them- no service tech is going to come to you 3 hours before the storm hits!
